i remember last summer when i went to China for mission with couple of my friends from school and from church that i was shocked about some of the testimonies that i heard, past that i never knew, nor how God has led them to where they are today. there was this one time when i heard a sermon on john 9 when i was still in hk. this is what happened: Jesus healed a blinded man and the healed man's encountered with different people around him after he was healed by Jesus. people who have known him for a while, namely his neighbors, didnt recognize him to be the same person and they began to question him about his transformation (v. 8-10), and the pharisees questioned and threatened him (v. 13-17), even his parents didnt want to associate with him because they were afraid (v.18-23). but throughout all the questioning, he held onto one thing, how he encountered Jesus and what Jesus did for him (v. 11-12, 24-33), which is essentially his testimony. there were things that he didnt know about Jesus and he simply replied that he didnt know, and that was ok, because he had his testimony that testify who Jesus is.
dont you agree that our Christian life should resemble this to some extent? there are lots of things we dont really know or understand about God, but one thing we know for sure is God has touched our life and changed our heart, and that is enough for us to testify His grace and proclaim His truth to others. this is actually just an introduction to what im about to talk about. henrik shared an idea posted by willis, that as brothers and sisters, lets share about our testimony, lets be reminded and amazed by God's grace, lets marveled at the cross together by realizing what Christ has accomplished for us at the cross. my testimony is pretty long, so im just gonna make another post so this wouldnt become an extensive essay. =]
