everything

everything. have you confessed that God is everything in your life? maybe pray that He will become everything in your life? what is that "everything"?

throughout the Bible, God is described as a lot of different roles. the king, the comforter, the groom, the lover, the sustainer, the joy-giver, the creator, the great high priest, the deliverer, the LORD, the Redeemer, the Christ, the Messiah, the shepherd, the prince of peace, the judge, the mighty fortress, the shelter, the Savior, the light, the Word, the mediator, the conqueror, the Son of God, the lamb of God, etc...

maybe the reason that God is described by so many different roles is to help us realize that God should take on those roles in our lives. we often look around and seek these roles in people, and almost always people fail and disappoint us. God is everything in our lives, perhaps only when He truly becomes these roles and beyond these roles that are confined by the human language in all aspects of our lives. yet we have the confidence that God will slowly (sometimes quickly!) replace these roles that are defined by us in this world with Himself , who knows everything about us, loves us beyond everyone else, and cares for us like no other, that His grace and love has transcend our hardened hearts, our pleasure and desire in the flesh, and ultimately, our sins and death.

everything. would you dare to pray that God will truly become everything in your life? because He will.
