Living for God

can you imagine having no hands? what about no legs? how would you live your life? what if you have no hands and no legs?

i was watching this sermon by nick vujicic with my youth group on friday night, and it made me feel really convicted and i was crying for the first half of the sermon. nick was born with no limbs, no arms, no legs except for a little limb w/2 toes. he is a pastor that has been giving sermons and testimonies about his life around the world. how can he become one of the most influential workers of God in this age when he's so powerless in people's eyes?

life is obviously hard for nick, he cant do the things that we always take for granted, like brushing teeth, washing our hair, feeding ourselves, playing instruments. he is just another human, he feels the hopelessness of having no limbs, he feels the loneliness of having no one to identified with, he feels the powerlessness of being dependent on others. but it is also through him that God's power is shown. when i look at him, all i can see is God and its just so great and awesome and amazing. it is because he is living for God, really with all that he has. despite his condition, he still strive to live to the fullest for God, trying his best by relying on God to overcome hardships.

it is because he is a living sacrifice for God, surrender himself for God, realizing that he is powerless and weak without God. it is because he believes that he can only live for God, he can only get comforts, hope, strength through God.

if a person like nick who seems to be powerless can impact the world, why cant we? the more appropriate question is why arent we? are we really living for God? instead of thanking God for what He has given, why are we complaining for what we don't have? why arent we making lemonade with the lemons? why are we focusing on the fact that we dont want lemons? why arent we seeing that God knows better than we do? why arent we surrendered to God?

One Response so far.

you showed this to me already, but yeah, we always take thing for granted and we should use them for Gods glory, if nick vujicic can all those thing with the things God has given him, how much more can we with the things God has given us.

This reminds me also of that passage where Jesus says that it is hard for the rich to enter the kingdom of Heaven. I guess because we are so distracted with money/blessings and riches instead of being thankful for it and using it for God's glory.
